MiniMania Dollhouse & Miniature Events was born from the desire for more accessible, more hobby-inclusive events for the miniature community in the Pacific Northwest. The one sometimes annual miniature show that is on offer local to the Portland area has been one of the only portals for local miniaturists and miniature enthusiasts to have hands-on, eyes-on experiences with handmade, locally crafted and curated miniatures. We aim to expand those opportunities, bring in a larger variety of vendors with modern & trendy ideas and products.
There is a vibrant community of miniature enthusiasts in the Pacific Northwest, and a consistent and sometimes growing interest in the various types of crafts applied to this hobby. That includes not only our tried and true dollhouse, doll & scale miniatures community, but also the enthusiasts who enjoy modelling of various kinds, people who make detailed dioramas, hobby crafters, the meticulous painting artists who make gaming miniatures, and more. There's really no limit to the imagination when it comes to this hobby, and we want everyone to feel included in our events and community, so we can share our ideas, our techniques, and our love for the chosen art within this hobby.
We live in a particularly fortunate place for miniatures as well, as Portland is a hub for stop-motion media, and there are several studios in town that create and exhibit world-class miniatures.
MiniMania's goal is to offer fresh opportunities to strengthen our community, shore up the little economy it supports with the array of artisans and crafters who can vend with us and for us, the experts who can teach us their techniques, the exhibitors who can share their art, and so, so much more.
If it's a Meet & Greet event, where we just get together at a pub in town to talk shop, or a full-blown miniatures symposium, which we hope to organize and grow into a legacy event that could attract artisans from around the country and even the world, our goal is to provide those unique experiences to the community here in the Pacific Northwest and perhaps someday, beyond.
MiniMania is founded by Stephanie Johanesen of Feffie's Cottage, and Amy Coe of SnarkHeart--both avid miniaturists. The organization will also eventually include other regional artists who want to add their expertise and ideas to the mix. Subscribe to the page & blog, and bookmark us, so you can see the upcoming events.
